About QDP

|

Queer Dance Project, is a project that has been forming for a few years.  Shortly after transitioning I started offering a dance class every 2 weeks. To the queer and trans community in Boulder County.  I was tickled by the turn out, no pun intended.  After relocating to Denver and finding myself getting turned down from my typical ballet teaching position.  Realizing the classical ballet world and the present day dance school did not want a queer trans-female classical ballet instructor.  Despite having twenty years of teaching experience.  Well COVID19 had set in and hit the state of Colorado. Any physical dance classes I may have been teaching got cut.   It was a real low knowing that a 12 year professional career and 20 years of teaching would not get me a job.  Even outside of a pandemic

SO like anyone from Colorado I went camping. To work on and stew ideas about a queer, trans positive dance program and what it would look like.   I also felt compelled to  incorporate my Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. With a 25 year practice of Qigong into this project.  I thought this would be a nice way to blend something together and instruct the community on numerous breathing techniques. Along with a practice in the art of meditation.  I realized I has a project on my hands a queer project.

It has taken me time to hone the I ideas around Queer Dance Project.  Hence why this project will continually morph and adapt to the changing environment. While providing positive learning culture.  I started doing some research, I was absolutely delighted to have found @ballez. It was a delight to see the work that Katy Pyle was doing in Brooklyn with Ballez.   Keep you eyes out for new and continued lessons from QDP
